Executive Team

PAUL DOWLING

CEO

Paul is a co-founder of ABL Corp and has over 25 years’ experience in current and fixed asset financing. He began his career with the wholly owned finance subsidiary of Westpac Bank, Australian Guarantee Corporation (AGC) and later with Australia’s largest independent invoice finance provider, Scottish Pacific Business Finance. Paul has an abundance of experience assisting businesses owners in difficult financial situations and has worked with many family-owned SMEs to help them build sustainable value and operate profitably.

Paul oversees our credit and risk operations and works closely with all divisions of ABL Corp to lead our team members in helping our borrowers reach their personal and business goals. He is a skilled problem solver and believes there is always a better way. Paul works closely with our borrowers to devise structure plans to build equity fast through our automated financial reporting function.

KATIE HOWARD

CFO

Katie has over a decade of experience in the finance industry, and in addition to working 6 years in public practice, she worked 5 years as a commercial CFO at Aveo Retirement and Aged Care, where Katie was responsible for the overall profitability of the company.

Katie is passionate about helping small business owners. She thinks outside the box and uses her strategic planning skills to help small business owners better monitor financial performance with accurate accounting information. Katie is a natural leader and effective communicator that believes in ‘continual improvement.’ So she not only wants your business to meet its financial goals and performance but to learn from them and grow.

BEN WHITEHOUSE

DIRECTOR OF ABL SOLUTIONS

Ben is a co-founder of ABL Corp and has over 20 years’ experience in the accountancy and small-business restructuring fields. Prior to becoming a Chartered Accountant, Ben worked as a Biochemist and held positions in several hospitals in Australia and the UK. Having experienced first-hand the struggles that small-business owners face, Ben developed an accounting firm that provides specialised commercial services to SMEs at a controlled cost and acts as a trusted advisor to the firm’s clients within their pre-insolvency and business recovery arm.

Ben has a passion for building high-performing teams, and leads our capital raising and investor division, whilst playing an active role in the innovation of our lending products and software developments.

AMIT MISHRA

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE OPERATIONS

Amit Mishra is a qualified chartered accountant and an experienced finance professional with over 15 years of expertise in commercial accounting, finance, tax, and business advisory. He is currently the CEO of ABL Business Services Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABL Corp Ltd.

Amit has been instrumental in developing the company’s back-office services over the past 10 years and is well-experienced in providing outsourced finance functions to SMEs. His skills and experience have enabled ABL Business Services to become a trusted partner for businesses looking to outsource their finance and accounting functions.

MELANIE BARTON

DIRECTOR OF CLIENT ACQUISITION

With over 15 years experience working as a Chartered Accountant in CFO roles in privately owned businesses and Public Practice, Melanie can quickly identify how ABL Corp and our referral network can provide clients with the necessary strategic solutions to ensure their success. Melanie’s commercial acumen and passion in assisting SME’s, brings a wealth of experience in managing people and businesses across most industries to the ABL team.

Relationships are central to ABL’s client value proposition and Melanie, as the Director of Client Acquisition, provides superior customer service to both clients and referral partners through a proactive problem solving approach during both the client assessment process and ongoing relationship with ABL

GILLIAN CAUCHI

COMPANY SECRETARY

Gillian is the Company Secretary of ABL Corp and has over 10 years’ experience in the accountancy and business administration fields. Prior to working with ABL Corp, Gillian has worked in various high-level client service and administration roles, whilst studying a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Environmental Science, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Training. Gillian is committed to providing efficient and excellent services to the clients and investors at ABL Corp.

MATT WHITEHOUSE

DIRECTOR OF IT

Matt has over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry and previously worked as a Database and Hosting Consultant at QM Technologies, where he setup and managed highly secure hosting environments for their clients, such as Westpac, ANZ and Suncorp.

Matt brought our vision of the ABL software to life, building our first version of the system himself. He is passionate about finding ways to improve borrower experience and ensures ABL Corp delivers valuable tools to small-business owners, that help manage their finances and free-up their time to focus on running their business. Matt tackles complex technical challenges with our programming team and oversees software development and the maintenance of internal infrastructure.
